BUST.

Notice the empty space in the rack. Today’s planned (and highly anticipated) recording session was thwarted by the malfunction of a much adored LA-610. (The 610 is the cool-looking tube pre-amp with the big black knobs. We had two, now we have one.) It sounds beautiful when it works. Today…no.

We’re exchanging the unit for a new one. Now we’ve got to wait two weeks for the next chance to try again.

Instead of recording, Dustin and I have spent the day (what was left after our fuse shopping trip), educating ourselves on the ins and outs of operating the music creation program Reason.

Caleb Nei is the Worship Arts Director at Emmaus Church in Berryville. He also teaches at least 40 piano lessons each week, is a member of the band Stereoreel, plays piano jazz at a couple of restaurants when Stereoreel isn’t playing, has three children, one wife and loves where God has him. He has a degree in church music from Huntington University and has studied jazz at Shenandoah University. He has no additional hobbies because he’s one of those people who have been able to get a job doing what he’d do for free anyway.
