Be Present
It’s the one thing
Stop. Really stop.
In today’s world multi-tasking is a requirement. Eating while driving. Talking on the phone while eating while driving. Listening while talking on the phone while eating while driving.
Rarely do we do just one focused, distraction-free thing. Listen to the words of David.
Psalm 27:3-5
3 Though an army besiege me,
my heart will not fear;
though war break out against me,
even then will I be confident.
4 One thing I ask of the LORD,
this is what I seek:
that I may dwell in the house of the LORD
all the days of my life,
to gaze upon the beauty of the LORD
and to seek him in his temple.
5 For in the day of trouble
he will keep me safe in his dwelling;
he will hide me in the shelter of his tabernacle
and set me high upon a rock.
Verse 4. He’s asking “one thing.” To know God. To gaze on His beauty.
I’m asking, that this morning we do one thing. No multi-tasking here. Let’s be present- not miss the moment. To put yesterday and tomorrow out of our minds. Right now we’re here to dwell in the house of the Lord, to gaze on his beauty, and to seek him in his temple.
